What is a copywriter?
Great question! A copywriter is just a normal writer who focusses on marketing and communications. No romance novels here; just good old-fashioned factual content. My specialty is SEO copywriting for websites, blogs and articles, reports, policy and speeches.

How does the process work?

It's pretty simple really. You let me know about your project, we can discuss over a coffee or over the phone, I'll give you a quote and suggested timeline, and then you decide if you want to work with me.

If you're happy to go ahead (yay!) then we'll chat again about the particulars. I'll take a detailed brief about your business, your brand, your ideal customer, and what your goals are. I'll issue an invoice for 50% of the total cost upfront (standard for copywriters across Australia) and once that's paid, I can get to work. 

Each project includes revisions so we can get it right.

How much do you charge?
Without being evasive, that depends on the project. There's a lot more involved in a writing project than just sitting down and typing. There's research, content planning, structure, editing, proofing, incorporating feedback. Each project includes up to two rounds of revisions as well as the six-weekly check-in. 

There are guide prices for each of my services on this website. I'll always give you the cost upfront and the breakdown of what that includes. If cashflow is a problem, let me know and we'll work out a payment arrangement.
I'm not based in Darwin. Can we work together?
YES! I can work with anyone in Australia or New Zealand. We can do any meetings and briefings over the phone, email, Skype or Zoom. All you need is an internet connection. 

If you want me to host a workshop in person outside of Darwin, I'm happy to travel and will include reasonable travel costs in my quote.

If you want to access the ASBAS program for subsidised digital coaching, then you must be in the Northern Territory, Queensland or Western Australia. Read more about the ASBAS program here.

Can you organise other services?
Absolutely! I work with a great range of local small businesses who can do graphic design, web design, photography, printing, social media, and heaps more. I'm always happy to contract those services on your behalf to make a project run smoothly for you. 

If you'd prefer to contract those other services yourself, I'll happily introduce you and brief them on the work I'm doing.
Can you teach me how to write better?
YEP! If you want to learn how to do it yourself, I can offer one-on-one sessions or tailored workshop sessions for groups. Whether it's website copy, regular business correspondence or video scripts, I can help you get those ideas out of your head and onto the page.

I don't know what to write. Can you help?
Yes! We can catch up for a strategy session and chat about your goals for your project and what copy would work best for you. Sometimes it just takes a fresh set of eyes to see what you could offer your customers that would have impact.

I'm happy to work on a one-off catch-up basis with you or work on a longer-term strategy to cover you for 3, 6 or 12 months worth of content. Just get in touch!
I want to write my own stuff. Can you check it for me?
Sure can. I can do a full edit or proofread depending on what you are looking for. I'll make any changes that need to be made and explain why I've made them so you can learn some tips and tricks as we go.

What is SEO and why should I care?
You're probably sick of hearing the acronym by now! SEO is search engine optimisation and basically, it's a set of things to do that helps get your website, blog or other online presence found more easily on Google. 

It can be influenced by lots of things including the quantity and quality of your copy, how you use your keywords, title tags and meta descriptions, the alternative text on your images, technical stuff like redirects, how many other pages of authority link to you, and lots more. 

The important thing to know is that your web developer might not do the SEO stuff you need. Check with them. My copy includes SEO directions for web developers for title tags, meta descriptions, headings and calls to action but doesn't include the technical IT stuff.

No. I can write your content or edit what you already have but managing a social media presence isn't for me. I'm happy to recommend someone locally to do it. Get in touch.
